I said to the doorman “Gosh not many drinks confiscated tonight”? He said "No, but I’ve got a Johnsons baby powder container!!” which had me in stitches!!!
On going up the stairs which again were very quiet, I thought oh no tonight's going to be empty!!! But when I went through into the Soul room I was very surprised to see the room so full and the atmosphere really took me aback.
I went in the room and had to squeeze through the crowd to find my friends who were on the dance-floor. As each DJ played their tunes, the people just kept dancing the night away. I went to the bar which is situated in the Northern Soul room. This room is very big, so it was hard not to notice the how empty it looked. I stood there and watched the “Northern Soul Ravers” sliding from side to side and twisting and turning, they can certainly move so perhaps it was good that they had so much space to do it in!!!
Having got my drink I headed back to the Soul room and by now the next DJ was on. Don’t ask me what any of them were called as I tend not to take much notice, but they each held the dance-floor track after track which kept the people dancing. You could tell everyone were in their element. There were a lot of new faces and the atmosphere was so deep!!!! By now DJ Mike Stephens had taken to the stage and he had the crowd dancing and cheering as the tunes continued to flow non-stop.
Soul Control Verdict:
Track after track, what a wicked night!!! As the night was coming to a close, the amply strong crowd still found the energy to shake a leg right to the last beat!!! The atmosphere was very positive for next time and even a round of applause was given to all the DJ’s which was well deserved. Well done TSOP!!!
