The attendance was high and the party people enjoyed the new format. So well done on that score!!!
When I first arrived I was surprised by how empty Barca was, but not too long afterwards the expected crowd started to arrive. In the chill out room the DJ's were playing some good old time classics. In the Modern Soul room the crowd were getting into the flow of the music as the room was beginning to fill with people from the chill-out room. Early on the 80’s Classics room was struggling to attract anyone which was such a concern to me I had to question what was going on!!
Whilst walking around, I saw a few of the Soul Out masses looking very displeased because the chill-out room was doing better than the 80’s Classics room which isn’t the norm. Before too long though and as more people were arriving, the whole place livened up significantly especially in the Modern Soul room where Tiny G was now playing.
The Modern Soul room was now like a sauna and started to empty because of the heat, so I went into the 80’s Classics room and by now this arena was full. DJ Alex Badass was playing a good Rare Groove selection and there were now enough people to fill this arena which I’ve not seen at Barca for some time. The whole event took its time to get going, but in the end it all ended up being alright.
Soul Control Verdict: All in all this was a standard Soul Out night. It started off very slow but over the course of the night the entertainment picked up considerably. It now transpires that Tiny G, the main DJ in the Modern Soul Room, had been involved in a serious car crash on his way to Barca and this might explain why everything seemed to start late and took time to get going.
